English Standard


5. Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach, focusing on addressing what is most significant for a specific purpose and audience. (Editing for conventions should demonstrate command of Language standards 1–3 up to and including grades 11–12.)
Outline
History

  1. Sports were seen as important in teaching the “American” values of hard work, and respecting authority, but now in this modern world things have changed.
  2. throughout the world various forms of unequal fairness is happening all around us.
  3. A particular unfairness has come to my attention, playing time.
  4. All players must play for equality, motivation, and development.
  1. Fairness
    1. What is fairness?
      1. All players must play for equality
      2. players are equally trained and educated and are still not receiving enough play time
      3. studies have shown that the number one reason why players quit is because they are not having fun
      4. I think we can all agree that sitting on the bench the whole game is not an enjoyable experience
      5. being benched affects team dynamics, the best player can get injured, and inexperienced players are put in and can ruin the game because they did not receive enough play time.  
      6. Play time can bring out someone's well performance in any game  
    2. playing time can make or break your season
      1. playing makes you feel on top of the world, and if you're not put in as much, it makes you lose interest in the sport
  2. Encouraging Motivation is the key to students participating in sports  
    1. having motivation makes everyone go to practice and be more engaged to do better in games
    2. no one signs up for something they plan not to try, the commit to it
    3. Everyone wants to feel like they are  part of the team, and when others see that, they automatically want to join
    4. When students are seeing the lack of players not getting put into the games they definitely don't want to be in that position where they know they will be sitting out
    5. If every player received meaningful minutes every player would be engaged to attend practice more
    6. Coaches can bring low self-esteem to players
      1. Ruining children’s self-confidence can even cause them to go into depression, feeling like they can no longer succeed in sports and thinking negative thoughts about themselves, which can ultimately affect their everyday lives
      2. Other studies have shown that some coaches do not always seem to realize is that the kids are not just learning from the teammates and the actual playing of the game, but they are very in tune to what the coach is doing and how the coach leads and motivates the team
      3. Coaches are the ones who decide what players to put in, and they are the ones who also do not include everyone to play  
                     3. Development brings out the best of players, but not to those who are not given a chance to show it.
      1. Teamwork is important, everyone learns how to work with each other, and give greater respect, and a team like that ends up winning
      2. Confidence, allows a player to break out of its shell, it allows you to feel good about yourself and makes you improve
      3. Socializing makes you have a great time with your teammates
      4. the players who are antisocial are the ones that are less put in games
      5. Communication gets you from the bench to the court, you make yourself stand out, and make the coach realize you have it in you to play
      6. Getting equal play time allows you to manage pressure, if you get to play a lot in games you know how to handle it, but those who are sitting at the bench every game would not know how to
      7. its always important to include every player to develop skills to improve themselves when playing

In conclusion, all players must play for equality, motivation, and development, we all deserve the opportunity to play.
